Lavanya Coodly creates distinctive womenswear that brings together romanticism, timeless design, and a modern point of view. Founded in 2014, her namesake label reflects a lifelong appreciation for beautiful fabrics, fine craftsmanship, and clothing designed to feel as wonderful as it looks.
Lavanya designed her first dress at the age of seven using blue lace fabric given to her by her mother. Largely self-taught from an early age, she developed an enduring respect for garment construction, handwork, proportion, and the relationship between silhouette, fit, and comfort.
Today, each Lavanya Coodly design begins with a sketch that is refined until it meets her exacting standards. Her collections are designed in New York City for women who value artistry, individuality, and understated sophistication.
A World of Inspiration
Lavanya draws inspiration from both sophisticated urban landscapes and the tranquility of the countryside. Her creative perspective has been shaped by a lifelong appreciation for different cultures, languages, cuisine, music, dance, textiles, and traditional craftsmanship.
“My parents taught me the value of experiencing other cultures, learning languages, enjoying diverse cuisines, and appreciating music and dance from an early age. Combining colors, fabric and textures was an everyday thing for me. I grew up learning knitting, weaving, print-making, embroidery, and sewing. The magic of these crafts and the opportunity to create something new inspires me every day. When I reflect on my childhood and the experiences in my adult life, I see endless possibilities and an enchanting new world each day.”

Lavanya’s work is distinguished by graceful silhouettes, expressive fabrics, intricate details, and a refined sense of occasion. Her designs are elegant without feeling excessive, allowing the woman wearing them to remain at the center of the story.
Fit and comfort are integral to her process. Every piece is considered as a complete composition, from the initial sketch to the final placement of fabric, texture, embellishment, and proportion.
The Art of Made-to-Order
Lavanya Coodly garments are made to order, allowing each design to receive the focused attention that exceptional clothing deserves. The label works with skilled New York talent and follows a production model intended to minimize unnecessary waste.
Remaining fabric is repurposed whenever possible, extending the usefulness of beautiful materials and supporting a more thoughtful approach to fashion.
Please allow approximately eight to ten weeks for the creation of a made-to-order garment. Timing may vary according to the design and any requested customization.

Lavanya Coodly's designs have been featured on Hollywood red carpets and international stages. Since 2017, she has been a contributing designer to the Miss India organization, creating looks for titleholders representing India on the international stage.
Her work has also been worn by actresses and performers for film premieres, galas, and other red-carpet appearances, reflecting the distinctive craftsmanship and global influences that define the Lavanya Coodly label.
